DENVER, CO., June 1, 2007 – On the one-month anniversary of one of the most devastating tornados in American history, LaMar’s Donuts is staging its largest edible giveaway ever by providing a treat for every resident of the storm-stricken town of Greensburg, Kan.

On Monday, June 4, LaMar’s is delivering enough donuts to feed each of the approximately 1,500 residents of the central-Kansas community flattened by an F5-rated tornado on May 4. At least ten people died, and the storm destroyed almost all the town’s buildings.

One month afterward, franchisee Doug Wessley is driving 109 miles in the early morning from his LaMar’s shop in Wichita, Kan., to deliver 150 dozen fresh donuts to Salvation Army officials in Greensburg for distribution.

“We know every day has been a difficult one in Greensburg recently,” Wessley said. “I would think Monday will be especially hard, and we want to bring whatever cheer we can for our Kansas neighbors to help start their day.”

About LaMar’s Donuts

Founded in 1960 by Ray Lamar, LaMar’s Donuts made its debut in Kansas City. Based on the donut shop’s phenomenal success and widespread reputation, franchises began selling in the early 1990s for bistro-style donut stores. LaMar’s now has 24 locations in six states: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. LaMar’s donuts have been recommended by Zagat’s Survey, the New Yorker and Gourmet Magazine, and have been chosen as best donut by newspapers nationwide.
