LaMar’s Donuts to Hold “Make a Donut, Thank a Hero” Event
Do-it-yourself donut kit proceeds to benefit families of policemen and firefighters killed in the line of duty
DENVER, CO., May 30, 2006 – LaMar’s Donuts is teaming up with local police and firefighter foundations for a “Make a Donut, Thank a Hero” event on Friday, June 2nd, which is National Donut Day. Donut-making kits containing donut holes, frosting and sprinkles will be available for purchase at all LaMar’s Donuts locations for that day only. All proceeds from the kits will benefit local police and firefighter foundations.
“These kits will be fun for kids who want to get creative and custom decorate their own donut holes,” said Anthony Bonelli, chief executive officer of LaMar’s Donuts. “Most importantly, the kits will also benefit the families of heroic police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty.”
Many families of police officers or firefighters that die in the line of duty can struggle financially when their loved one passes on. Many local police and fire departments set up foundations to support the family members of these officers.
“We’re excited that LaMar’s Donuts is putting on this event to benefit these families who have experienced a tremendous loss,” said Gerry Whitman, Denver Chief of Police. “These brave men and women who work in law enforcement and as firefighters put their lives on the line everyday – the generous support of companies like LaMar’s goes to a really great cause.”
LaMar’s Donuts has franchise operations in six states and is actively recruiting new franchise operators. The company’s donuts have been named “best donut” by magazines, newspapers and in reader surveys in publications across the country.
